These instructions will show you how to create an Assignment folder so that students can create their own videos in the course. The Assignment folder is what allows students to become creators of the videos. If it is not made, there is a chance that students will not be able to create their own videos.
Step 1: Go into your course in Blackboard and select the Panopto/Course videos link from the sidebar. You should see the following after selecting the link:
Step 2: You should see a place to add a general folder. You will click on that "Add Folder" button and type in the name you want the folder to have.
Step 3: Once the folder is made, you will select it to open.
Step 4: Once you have opened the folder, you will need to go into the settings to make the Assignment folder where students will officially submit their work. You will select the gear icon in the top right by the Subscribe button. NOTE: You cannot simply add a new folder here. In order for students to be creators where they can make their own videos, you have to set it up as an Assignment Folder which can only be done in settings.
Step 5: Under Overview in the settings, you will see a “Create Assignment Folder” option at the bottom. Select this option by clicking on it. Once you click “Create Assignment Folder,” Panopto will automatically create it with the same name as the folder. The only difference is that it will have the word [Assignments] in the title.
Step 6: Select the X in the top right to close out of settings once you have made the assignment folder (see picture above for where the X is located). You should now see the assignments folder when you close out of settings. Students will need to select this folder before they create their video to ensure it goes into the right place.
Note:
If you want students to also be able to watch each other's videos, you will need to change the permission settings in the [assignments] folder. There are separate instructions on how to do this.
